Lesley Smitheringale – Ornate Flair & Hush the Moon
My name is Lesley Smitheringale and I’ve pretty much been an artist since about 5 years of age.
I’m originally from Scotland and grew up in a small village about 20 minutes drive from Glasgow. One of the happiest days of my life was receiving a letter of acceptance to Glasgow School of Art where I specialised in printed textiles, proudly gaining a Degree with Honours in Design. I studied for another year to become a qualified art teacher and taught for ten happy years in a High School in Scotland.
Restless and wanting to expand my horizons, I did a teacher exchange where I swapped jobs and houses with an Australian teacher. This was a challenging but incredibly life-changing year which resulted in my decision to live in Australia permanently.
